The Throw

This is another of the techniques which clearly illustrate the advantage judo gives a small person over a larger one who relies on their strength alone. You take a back fall so that you are lying face-up, and as you do so, you throw your opponent in a rolling movement far behind your head.

Attacking

  1. Shoot your left foot deep between your opponents legs. Step straight in, and fall so that your buttocks come in contact with your left heel.
  2. Bend the toes of your right foot back, bend your knee, and let the sole of your right foot come lightly into contact with your opponent’s abdomen.
  3. Take a fall straight back, stretch your right knee out, and pulling with both hands, throw your opponent in a rolling motion over and behind your head.
