All seems not to be well in Phil Porter’s USMA:

http://www.mararts.org/index.shtml

It seems that Donn Schucker, heir-apparent to the USMA empire has split from Mr Porter. Anybody know what happened?

What happened to all the rest of the website ?

As I understand it, they had a disagreement on whether the criterion of Absolute Sainthood and "Son of God" should be attached to the 15th dan or not. sleep.gif

He hasnt always been as he appears to be now you know. You could consider cutting him just a little slack? We both write on the spirit of judo surely we should practice what we teach? I know I know I am the biggest hypocrite on the forum BUT I hate to see it in others! lol

What we can now look froward to is another new association with Mr Don Shucker at the healm. Will be interseting to read what rank he becomes? Leave these people alone CK its the best way to progress for judo. The more attention we give people we dislike the bigger our problem becomes.

You know your judo and be thankful for that my friend.

Not sure why I am being criticized; I am simply expressing regret of being unable to attend a seminar taught by a venerable 10th or 11th dan. Wouldn't you attend if you had the chance ? I would, I always am open to learning new exciting things, particularly from people more senior than I am. sleep.gif

World would be a better place if that org dried up and died. Sadly there is 100 more just like it. Just a shame someone who does Judo runs it.

laugh.gif You are rotton to me you are.

Actualy with all the bad publicity this chap has in all seriousness and honesty I would like to attend one of his courses. All his life he has been involved in judo at an international and national level and I would expect him to know a great many things I simply dont. Yes, I would actualy like to meet the man and see what he could teach me.

I dont like his self ranking policy but I dont need to be a part of that to learn some judo. Knowledge is education and I look for it where I can.

I would NEVER critisice you , not on a monday!

I am a member of USJA, USJI, & USMA. I like all the organizations for different reasons.

I have been to 4 Phil Porter seminars and found them fun and very informative. If another comes my way I will happily go again.

Porter Sensei has a lot of valuable information on Judo, competition, and grappling in general, he has always been happy to share it. Like many on here I have his videos of "The 65 throws of Kodokan Judo".

He has always been nice to me and I wish him well.

Just want to wish Schucker - Sensei, continued success and sincere appreciation for all he's done for judo, and all that he has yet to offer.

Rather than the entire membership here contact you why not use this forum as a manner of passing on all information you desire the judo community to have? Logic eh?

My best to you.
