Tbilisi, Oct 30 - the 60th Palavnoba = the Georgian Chidaoba open class nationals was held.



28 wrestlers participated; among them guys who have been medalists at World and/or European championships in judo or sambo at 100, +100 or in the open class.
Judoka: Lasha Gujejiani, Adam Okroashvili, Zviad Khanjaliashvili, Georgi Kizilashvili, Nodar Metreveli, Ioseb Mskhaladze.
Best sambo wrestler at the chidaoba nationals – Mirian Pavliashvili, 2007 world & 2008 European champ at 100 kg.

The final: Alexi Davitashvili (3rd at European judo championships in 1994, 2000 and 2001 at +100 and open) vs. Zviad Chinchaladze (2003 European champ and 2003, 2006 and 2007 world medalist at +100 in sambo; medalist at judo tourneys).

Davitashvili won and became the Georgian national champ for the 8th time.

Thanks for posting this. Many people do not realize that wrestling or some form of such can be found throughout various regions stretching from Turkey,Georgia, Iran,Iraq,etc. across to Mongolia, China, Japan and down to India. The early and ancient times saw this 'globalization' of such through some conquests and also from independent developments sometimes exported,but grappling of some form seems to be a world-wide human activity for sport, fun, celebration, and warfare or self-defense. Keep up the good work.
